ImprovBoston is once again giving audiences a reason to celebrate Halloween in their theatre. Starting Wednesday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m., the theatre will take audiences to a very dark place as GoreFest 9: MASSacre General Hospital opens. This annual event, created by the team that wrote this summer's hit MBTA The Musical, costs $22 for adults and $17 for students at Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday shows. Tickets cost $25 for Adults and $20 for students on Friday and Saturday and on Halloween. ImprovBoston is located at 40 Prospect Street. Tickets are available online at www.improvboston.com/gorefest or by phone at 617.576.1253.

This year GoreFest 9: MASSacre General Hospital takes audiences into the heart of a hospital that has a dark terrible secret... by way of singing, dancing, innuendo, and gallons of fake blood! Expect show-stopping music as one of Boston's hottest (and messiest) Halloween traditions returns for a ninth blood -splattered incarnation. This year audiences will experience the story of Braggs Memorial, a small and humble hospital in the backwoods of Mississippi with a dark, terrible secret. Entirely by accident, young man and his pregnant wife find themselves in a strange world ruled by a cruel head nurse and run by a team of unusually off-putting orderlies, where something much more sinister than MRSA has been creeping below the surface for a long time.

The show was written by Misch Whitaker and Laura Clark. Melissa Carubia wrote the original music and lyrics. It is directed by Bobby Smithney. The cast includes: Melissa Carubia, Nick Garner, Alex LeBaron, Robert Woo, Camilo Aladro, Pat Parhiala. Eric Rehm, Sarah Tupper, Emily Laverdiere, Emily Hecht, Courtney M. Schou, Natalie Cowell, Katie Preisig, Julie DeVito, Gina Damico, and Hannah Foell.

"It's the 9th GoreFest for ImprovBoston, but my very first splatter musical," explains new Managing Director Zach Ward. "I'm scared about the amount of fake blood in the GoreFest budget, but I'm honestly excited. With the proven talent we have in the cast and crew behind this show, I can't wait to sit in the front row myself so I can get sticky and watch the comedy mayhem unfold."

Audience Note: This show is not appropriate for children under 16, and boasts a total disregard for audience cleanliness. We provide plastic sheeting as protection, but be advised you may still get splattered. GoreFest will literally throw fake blood, fake gore, fake entrails, etc, at the audience. It is full of innuendo, irreverence and is generally upsetting in a way that is PERFECT for Halloween but not perfect for the young, faint of heart, or well-dressed.
