Leave your winter coats and hats at home and get ready to jump in the pool this December when North Shore Music Theatre's (NSMT) production of DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 makes its New England premiere on the NSMT mainstage. DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 will have a limited run at NSMT from December 18, 2008 through January 11, 2009.

Based on the smash hit Disney Channel musical, DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 will anchor an array of family friendly activities at NSMT this holiday season. "We are thrilled to be the second regional theater in the country to produce the blockbuster hit DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 this year and to give families the opportunity to enjoy this live musical experience together," said Barry Ivan, NSMT's Artistic Director and Executive Producer and Director/Choreographer for DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2.

DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 follows Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan and their friends from East High during a summer of fun, sun and song at a fabulous country club.  Complete with electrifying dance numbers and popular songs from the top selling CD, DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 will also feature several talented young performers from the local community.  "I continue to be impressed by the quality of talent in our area," Ivan said.  "Many local young actors were featured in Disney High School Musical last season, and I look forward to seeing more young performers from our area working side-by-side with professional equity performers on our mainstage this season."

DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 is one of several family-friendly activities happening at NSMT during the holidays.  "This winter we are offering our patrons a variety of entertaining ways to celebrate the season," said Ivan.  NSMT will be offering several concerts for the entire family to enjoy.  And, back by popular demand, NSMT will be holding the 2nd annual Holiday Illumination event for the community.  Holiday Illumination festivities are free and open to the public and will include a tree lighting ceremony, delicious holiday confections, caroling and hands-on holiday crafts.  Details and dates for the concerts and Holiday Illumination will be released soon.  Check www.nsmt.org for future announcements.

According to Ivan, NSMT's popular musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol will be taking a year off this season, but it will return in 2009 for its 20th Anniversary production.  "I'd like to thank all our patrons for making A Christmas Carol part of their holiday season each year," said Ivan.  "We look forward to celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2009 and continuing the North Shore tradition with our patrons next season."  Patrons who had purchased tickets to A Christmas Carol have been notified by the NSMT Box Office.

Tickets for DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 will go on sale April 14, 2008 to NSMT donors, April 17, 2008 to NSMT 6-show subscribers and trios, and April 20, 2008 to the general public.  Tickets prices are $65 and $79.  Subscriber, senior, group and youth discounts are available. For tickets visit www.nsmt.org, call (978) 232-7200, or in person at 62 Dunham Rd. Beverly, MA 01915.
