Hello! Elements Theatre Company Presents A.R. Gurney's SYLVIA Image"Dramatic literature is stuffed with memorable love scenes," says the New York Times. "But none is as immediately delicious and dizzy as the one that begins the redeeming affair in A. R. Gurney's comedy, SYLVIA."

This summer, get ready to "laugh your tail off." Elements Theatre Company presents A. R. Gurney's play Sylvia-a smart, playful, sophisticated, and occasionally gritty comedy about relationships, nature, and growing older.

A recent Broadway hit, the comedy has played all over the world from France to China. Sylvia tells the story of an exuberant, lovable dog who changes the lives of a middle-aged couple. Greg and Kate are recent empty nesters who have moved to Manhattan after 20 years in the suburbs. Greg is struggling with his job, while Kate is excited about her new teaching opportunities and newfound freedom. Sylvia enters into the middle of their relationship, challenging their marriage and their habitual points of view.

This production is proving to be very timely in light of playwright A. R. Gurney's passing this June. "No matter how dazzling the dialogue or how truthful the situations, there was an always abiding, very deep concern for his characters that is the hallmark of the very best dramatists," wrote a long-time colleague, Romulus Linney, about A. R. Gurney. "I can think of no other American playwright who presents to us his men and women, and ourselves, in love as gracefully and as solidly as he does, or who moves with such wisdom through the tangled maze of family conflicts. He has changed the way we look at ourselves."

Middle-aged parents, dog lovers, seniors who have been through it all-A. R. Gurney's Sylvia will draw you into an all-too-relatable story of relationships, dogs, nature, and aging. This play might just provide the perfect comic relief to your busy summer activities.
