GODSPELL to Open Winthrop Playmakers' 75th Season, 9/13-22
The Winthrop Playmakers have announced their upcoming production of Stephen Schwartz' much loved musical Godspell! Opening Friday, September 13th, Godspell is a major achievement for the nonprofit theater organization, as it opens their 75th Season.
A modern retelling of the New Testament parables from The Gospel According to Matthew, Godspell uses modern music with lyrics from traditional hymns to tell the story of the teachings of Jesus Christ. With well-known songs such as "Day by Day," "Save the People," and "All for the Best," Godspell has been entertaining for decades, and the Winthrop Playmakers are proud to share their modern retelling with audiences this September.
Set in a business conference room, Godspell is directed by Thea Wigglesworth and Music Directed by Mario Cruz. The production features Jason Hair-Wynn as Jesus and Bobby Imperato as John the Baptist/Judas. They will be joined by an ensemble including Elyse Seltzer, Elena Joyner, Becky Rush, Lauren Amaru, Patricia Vaccaro-Coburn, Andy Porterfield, Michael Lacey, Patrick Harris & Billy Thompson. Running September 13-22, you can purchase tickets now by visiting the website www.winthropplaymakers.com or by calling 617-539-1175. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.
