GAN-e-meed Theatre Project presents the New England premiere of Stacey Lane's serio-comic journey Lucy Dreaming August 11-14, directed by SerahRose Roth, GAN-e-meed's Producing Artistic Director and star of their highly acclaimed all-female Hamlet (May 2010). Set inside the troubled mind of an insomniac, Lucy explores the psychological landscape of that place between awake and asleep. Lucy Dreaming is presented as part of FeverFest 2010, the fifth annual celebration of local Boston artists, at the Factory Theatre, 791 Tremont Street Boston, Wednesday through Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 4pm and 8pm.

GAN-e-meed is excited to collaborate with other Boston-area artists while fulfilling its mission of advancing the role of women in theatre. FeverFest, sponsored by the Small Theatre Alliance of Boston (STAB), is an exploration of a single theme by many local artists, bringing their own interpretation through original works. This year GAN-e-meed joins Bad Habit Productions, Fort Point Theatre Channel, Kelly DuMar and M. Lynda Robinson in investigating the theme of "Left Off Dreaming" from Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass.

Roth reflects "Lucy Dreaming is a piece that anyone can relate to: the thoughts that run through your head before you go to bed that keep you from closing your eyes." Originally written for two actresses who are already playing two aspects of one character, GAN-e-meed's production chose to cast three, two of whom form a chorus. Erin Scanlon (Chair, GAN-e-meed Board of Directors) plays Lucy 1, with SarahBrooke Vanaman and Sophie Sinclair sharing the role of Lucy 2.

Typically, companies with projects in mind submit to FeverFest but this year, FeverFest received some submissions from playwrights outside of the Boston area (including Lane, of Alexandria VA) who would not be able to produce their plays on their own. GAN-e-meed answered the call and after reading Lane's play decided to take up the challenge.

About GAN-e-meed Theatre Project
GAN-e-meed Theatre Project's inaugural production of Hamlet (featuring an all-female cast) performed in May 2010 in Lowell and Somerville to sell-out audiences. Ties That Bind, three short plays written, directed, and about women was presented by GAN-e-meed as part of Whistler in the Dark's Second Act Series at the Factory Theatre in February 2010. Funds for Hamlet were partially raised by BOOBFest: Bringing On-Stage Opportunities to Babes, a wildly successful variety show celebration hosted by GAN-e-meed at Boston Playwrights Theatre. GAN-e-meed also continues to host monthly Happy Hours for Women in Theatre and their supporters, on the first Monday of every month (check www.ganemeed.org for details). Their final show of the season, Silence by Moira Buffini, opens in December.

GAN-e-meed Theatre Project was founded in 2009 to advance the role of women in theatre: the experienced and novice, young and old, artist and leader. To accomplish this, their seasons are created from shows proposed by female artists (actress, stage manager, designer, playwright, or director), and they promote the study of and visibility of gender bias within the theatre community. GAN-e-meed Theatre Project hopes to be the catalyst to establishing gender equity in New England theatre.
