Fall Registration Opens for ACT Studio One Performing Arts Programs

The Academy of the Company Theatre's (ACT) Studio One youth and adult small group performing arts classes are open for fall registration. Classes run for 13 weeks for the fall semester, beginning the week of September 15. All programs are held at The Company Theatre Center for the Arts, 30 Accord Park Drive, Norwell.

Founded in 1987, ACT Studio One programs offer education geared towards refining skills in the arts, giving the performer a process to guide them towards excellence in performance. ACT Studio One's mission is to build confidence in the performing arts through ability in a creative, safe and supportive environment, motivating self-expression through progressive training to children, teens and adults. A faculty of established teacher-artists educate, nurture and encourage proper technical development in voice, acting, movement and music, leading students to confident, positive experiences.

For the youngest children age 4 to 6, ACT Kids Club introduces the magical world of theatre through song, movement, theatre games and team work. For school aged students from 7 to 18, Center Stage offers youth performers basic performance skills through mini lessons including acting, singing, movement and auditioning. Dance classes are offered for youth in Jazz/Tap/Broadway Dance. Children's and Teen Voice Classes for age groups from 8 to 18 teach student vocalists how to use their musical singing instrument on their way to becoming a group or solo voice musician. Yoga for Kids for ages 8 to 14 allows class instruction for positions, stretching, strengthening, energizing, relaxation and meditation.

For students age 14 to 18, Teen Improv bolsters the spirit of creative acting styles through theatre games and comedic learning, while Teen Acting teaches fundamentals by exploring monologues, scene study, and speech through the works of diverse playwrights. For upper class high school students who will pursue musical theatre or theatre in college, College Audition Prep offers a small class environment with one-on-one coaching to select and prepare audition monologues, solo singing and group critique.

For teens age 15 through adults, Bollywood classes allow students to learn classic Indian Bharatanatyam movements, creating a unique dance team. Barre Fitness combines the best effect use of the Ballet Barre, Pilates and Fitness genres set to popular music. Adult Acting, Tap, andVoice classes are also available.

All students have the opportunity to participate in performances and demonstrations at biannual ACT Studio One Showcase presentations.
