Elements Theatre Company to Host SPEAK WHAT WE FEEL Acting Retreat, 8/7-12
Elements Theatre Company, a non-profit, resident ensemble of 16 artists who present classical and classically-rooted modern works year-round on Cape Cod, presents Speak What We Feel: a summer Acting Shakespeare Retreat on Cape Cod, August 7-12, for actors and Shakespeare enthusiasts.
Concluding their three-year celebration of the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth, and the 400th anniversary of his death, Elements offers this timely opportunity of intensive theatre immersion, including movement and dance, voice and text training, guided scene study and discussions, and master-classes with guest instructors, using Shakespeare's King Lear as source material. Accommodations and gourmet meals are provided at Paraclete House, a beautiful retreat facility overlooking Rock Harbor in Orleans, Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Guest instructors include:
Elizabeth Ingram, Artistic Professor, Actor, and Designated Kristin Linklater voice teacher at Syracuse University, NY
Susan Dibble, the Louis, Frances, and Jeffrey Sachar Professor of Theatre Arts, Brandeis University
Walton Wilson, Chair, Department of Acting, Head of Voice & Speech, Yale School of Drama
Danielle Dwyer, CJ, Co-founder and Artistic Director of Elements Theatre Company
The schedule includes open rehearsals with Elements Theatre Company, and tickets to opening night of King Lear, an epic tale of sorrow, forgiveness, madness and reconciliation. Presented outdoors in the Atrium of the Church of the Transfiguration at Rock Harbor, Orleans, King Lear provides a vivid feast for the senses, surrounded by the natural elements - ocean, columns of stone, pillars of fire, and the summer night air. (August 12-14, 19-21, 8pm. Tickets: 508-240-2400 or online at elementstheatre.org.)
