Dance Currents to Present 'Next Steps' on January 26 at Green Street Studios

Dance Currents, Inc. is presenting "Next Steps" at Green Street Studios Sunday January 26 at 3 pm. As Green Street Studios is moving, all proceeds from this fundraiser go to their transition plan. The choreographers presenting pieces are: Audra Carabetta, Lorraine Chapman, Jennifer Cote', Kathy Hassinger, Kendra Heithoff Henseler, Anna Meyers, Margot Parsons, Nicole Pierce and Ali Smith. Premieres as well as time-honored dances will be shown.

Our hope is to raise money to ease the way for Green Street Studios to find a new space, and to raise the consciousness of the Boston Area audience that a vital resource of our dance community is in need. Green Street Studios is the home for a large number of dance groups, a presenter of important local and out of town dance companies, and a major teaching location for excellent teachers in a variety of dance techniques. The fact that they are moving is a major change in the ecology of dance in the Boston area.

Dance Currents Inc. has produced at least four full evening/afternoon concerts and participated in community productions such as Across the Ages Dance in Green Street Studios' black box theater. We are a Dance Company, as so many others, who do not have a home base and Green Street Studios has provided friendly and open access for rehearsals, workshops, live music and diverse, creative work. It is a huge resource for so many dancers, teachers and choreographers throughout New England. Their move is of crucial importance to our dance community.
