Cape Rep kicks off its 30th Anniversary season with the regional premier of Failure: A Love Story, a comedy by Philip Dawkins. "Upon ent ering the United States, the first order of business for Heiner and Marishka Failbottom was to have their bottoms chopped off by an overzealous Ellis Island desk clerk."-- a line from this comic love story set in Chicago in 1928, told by a small ensemble of actors who play all of the people, the animals, the music and most of the inanimate objects. To describe it in any more detail will rob you of the joyful surprise in every twist and turn of fate in this brilliant little fable. Failure: A Love Story embraces the creative storytelling that makes theater the unique art form it is.

Associate Artistic Director, Maura Hanlon, directs. The creative team includes Set Designer Ryan McGettigan along with Lighting Designer Phil Kong and Resident Costume Designer Robin McLaughlin, the team behind last season's successful production of Jerusalem.

Hanlon is thrilled with her company of actors featuring Meghan Magrath, Liz Tancredi and Holly Erin McCarthy as the three Fail sisters, along with Jon C. Whitney, Sam Gillam, Jared Hagan and Andrew Ford. These actors have collectively appeared in many Cape Rep shows including Avenue Q, One Man, Two Guvnors, Funny Girl and more.

Cape Rep's 30th Anniversary season opens with Failure: A Love Story by Philip Dawkins running May 7 through June 7 followed by the regional premier of John Patrick Shanley's Outside Mullingar, June 25 through July 25. Resident Playwright Art Devine's new play, A Cloud of Canvas, will receive its world premier from September 17 through October 18 and the season will close with the Tony-winning musical comedy, La Cage Aux Folles, playing from November 5 through December 6. The Outdoor Theater Children's Show is Mo Willems' Elephant and Piggie's "We are in a Play!" which runs Wednesdays and Thursdays, July 1 through September 3 along with Mary Wilson's popular Pitter Patter Puppets on Tuesdays from July 7 through August 25.
