The Cape Cod Theatre Project presents a staged reading of Bess Wohl's Continuity, July 13-15, Falmouth MA.

Under the direction of Artistic Director Hal Brooks, the Cape Cod Theatre Project has a history of presenting some of America's best new plays, including: John Cariani's Almost, Maine, Lucas Hnath's Hillary and Clinton and Bess Wohl's American Hero. After each reading, audiences are invited to participate in talkbacks to assist in the development of new works, many of which go on to off-Broadway, Broadway, or regional engagements.

Playwright Bess Wohl (Small Mouth Sounds) returns to Cape Cod to debut her new show Continuity. Ms. Wohl's other works include American Hero, Barcelona, and the original musical Pretty Filthy, in collaboration with The Civilians (Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk nominations for Outstanding Musical). She is an associate artist with The Civilians, an alumna of Ars Nova, and the recipient of commissions from Manhattan Theatre Club, Hartford Stage, and Lincoln Center. She is a graduate of Harvard and Yale School of Drama.

Ms. Wohl is perhaps best known for her hit show Small Mouth Sounds. The New York Times said that Wohl's work "...leaves you moved, refreshed and even enlightened." The Huffington Post called it "a play unlike any other." Variety agreed, labeling the production "flawless."

Continuity is directed by Kimberly Senior. Ms. Senior directed the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Disgraced, which opened on Broadway in 2014. Charles Isherwood of The New York Times, said that Disgraced was "a continuously engaging, vitally engaged play" that "bristles with wit and intelligence" and "puts contemporary attitudes toward religion under a microscope, revealing how tenuous self-image can be for people born into one way of being who have embraced another."

Continuity tells the story of Hollywood's chance to take on climate change. Filmmakers attempt to make a disaster movie, but the result is simply confusion. The film is over budget, behind schedule, and threatening to become a real-life disaster for everyone involved. The earth warms. The glaciers melt. Science is debated. And a film crew fights to get a last shot in before losing daylight.

Continuity features veteran actor Maura Tierney. Ms. Tierney is best known for her roles as Lisa Miller on the sitcom NewsRadio, Audrey Reede in Liar Liar (1997), Abby Lockhart on the medical drama ER and as Helen Solloway on Showtime's The Affair.

All presentations of Continuity will take place at 8:00 P.M. in the newly renovaTEd Simon Arts Center at Falmouth Academy in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Tickets are available for (a suggested donation of) $25 each or a season subscription of of $75 for the remaining three readings in the CCTP season and can be purchased by calling the box office at (508) 457-4242.
