Brown Box Theatre Project Presents THE BROADWAY JUKEBOX: REVOLUTION, May 10-June 2 Image

The Broadway Jukebox returns by popular demand! With a new list of 30 songs to choose from, each performance is unique based on the selection of that night's audience. Upon arrival, each audience member votes for their top choices based on five categories: "Classics," "Contemporary Musicals," "Animation," "Diva," and "Written by Rockers." Brown Box then curates that night's show on the spot in this interactive, family-friendly evening, where we perform what YOU consider the best of Broadway. Don't miss out on the revolution!

The Broadway Jukebox: Revolution will visit locations throughout New England and Delmarva as part of a four-week tour from May 10-June 2, 2019. Brown Box's annual tradition will continue the company's mission of delivering professional, impactful theatre directly to communities in an ongoing effort to reinvent the way theatre is created and consumed. In keeping with this model, The Broadway Jukebox: Revolution will transform public spaces throughout New England and Delmarva into vibrant cultural and tourist destinations, marking a significant victory for accessible arts programming and creative spaces in the area.

Brown Box first presented The Broadway Jukebox in 2018. Adored by Broadway patrons and theatre novices, this format provides new voices and stories from across musical theatre genre to be delivered, live, to audiences up and down the coast. With The Broadway Jukebox: Revolution, audiences again have their choice between nostalgic classics mixed with recent Tony-winning scores, making for a show unlike any other!

A Delmarva native himself, Artistic Director Kyler Taustin was troubled by a lack of cultural opportunities while growing up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and has since committed his career to building up the artistic landscape of his hometown and beyond. "Theatre shouldn't exist in a bubble," says Taustin. "Geography and cost should not exclude people from the arts." The company seeks to use performance as a way to reach new communities, share diverse stories, and spark conversation.

The Broadway Jukebox: Revolution performances are open to all audiences. Funding for this event is provided in part by the Worcester County Arts Council, Maryland State Arts Council, Fall River Cultural Council (Massachusetts Cultural Council), Webster Cultural Council and Somerset Cultural Council - organizations dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive.

ABOUT THE COMPANY: Brown Box Theatre Project's mission is to bring high-quality theatre to communities that otherwise lack access to the performing arts. The constant goal in all their programming is to bring down barriers that separate potential audiences from live theatre and to introduce the performing arts to the widest audience possible.
