Berkshire Shorts Films Festival Set for 10/13

By:

The first annual Berkshire Short Film Festival aims to showcase local and independent short films of all genres from up-and-coming filmmakers, students, and animators. The evening festival will be held at the Spectrum Playhouse at 20 Franklin Street in Lee, Massachusetts on Saturday, October 13th from 7 to 9pm and is open to the public.

Patrick Toole, a Lee native who attended film school in Philadelphia at the University of the Arts and has produced and directed over 10 short films, initiated the idea of the Berkshire Shorts Film Festival.

“Our number one goal is to give local and independent Filmmakers a place to show their films to an audience of peers and friends” says Patrick Toole. “We put a lot of work into our films, and sometimes it's hard to even get them screened at a real venue”.

Berkshire Shorts is aiming to be a very accessible event and is open to the public to celebrate a variety of work from both local and non-local artists. The festival format will include screenings and Filmmakers will be asked to provide some background about their films and be available to answer audience questions.

Anyone ages 16 and up is encouraged to attend. Submissions must be under 20 minutes with a first-round deadline of September 20th and a final deadline of October 1st. Submission guidelines and more information can be found on berkshireshorts.weebly.com.
