Apollinaire Theatre Company to Stage Darkly Comic Sci-Fi Thriller BRILLIANT ADVENTURES
Science prodigy Luke has escaped life with his drug dealing brother Rob, and set up his workshop in his council flat on a desolate Middlesbrough housing estate. He finally has some peace to work on the extraordinary box in his living room, but Rob finds the flat an irresistible base of operations. When he brings in a wealthy outsider who finds the box irresistible, they face a peril that could destroy the family and the universe.
Performances of Brilliant Adventures are Dec. 28, 2016-Jan. 21, 2017: Dec. 28-31 at 8:00, Jan. 6-21, Fri. & Sat. at 8:00, Sun. at 3:00. Press Night: Saturday Dec. 30 at 8:00. Performances are at the Chelsea Theatre Works, 189 Winnisimmet St., Chelsea.

Brilliant Adventures features Brooks Reeves, Michael Underhill, Dev Luthra, Sam Terry, Eric McGowan and Geoff Van Wyck. Directed by Danielle Fauteux Jacques, the creative team also includes fight director Danielle Rosvally, sets by Nathan Lee, sound by David Reiffel, costumes by Kate Devorak, dialect coach Christopher Sherwood Davis, and stage managers Rachel Clay and Juli Merhaut.
In 2011, Alistair McDowall's play Brilliant Adventures was awarded a Bruntwood Judge's Award, leading it to be produced by the Royal Exchange. His recent play, Pomona, transferred to the National Theatre, and most recently his play X received raves at The Royal Court Theatre.
Apollinaire Theatre Company stages passionate plays at their elegantly restored theater in the Chelsea Theatre Works, as well as bilingual free summer theater in the park. Recently Apollinaire opened two new theaters at the Chelsea Theatre Works, the Riseman Family Theatre that houses their Apollinaire Play Lab program for children and youth, and the New BlackBox Theatre, a rental house for Greater Boston's performing arts community.Recent Apollinaire productions include Threesome by Yussef El Guindi, MidSummer by David Greig, Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov, Stupid F**king Bird by Aaron Posner, A Beautiful Day in November on the Banks of the Greatest of the Great Lakes by Kate Benson, and Songs of the Dragons Flying to Heaven by Young Jean Lee.
