Actors' Shakespeare Project Features TWELFTH NIGHT, MEDEA, et al. This Season
By: Nicole Rosky Mar. 14, 2011
Actors' Shakespeare Project is pleased to announce its 2011 - 2012 Season. This will be the eighth season for the roving Shakespeare company, who work throughout Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville, and are based at the Somerville Armory. Artistic Director Allyn Burrows has just announced that ASP will cast off with a journey to IIlyria with Shakespeare's wonderfully lyrical comedy of yearning and mistaken identity, Twelfth Night (or What You Will), directed by Melia Bensussen (who previously directed ASP's The Taming of the Shrew and The Merchant of Venice).
Subsequently, ASP will raise sails on the riotous The Merry Wives of Windsor, which includes the return of several characters from this season's Henry IV, including Falstaff seen in a different guise, for the holiday season. This, directed by resident company member Steven Barkhimer, will mark his directing debut with the company. The seas grow darker with Euripides' tale of loss and revenge, Medea, a chilling tale that cuts to the heart of resolve in the face of adversity, directed by David R. Gammons (who previously directed ASP's acclaimed The Hotel Nepenthe, Titus Andronicus, andThe Duchess of Malfi productions). And finally, riding on the Grecian current and rising tide of spring floats the Bard's Trojan War tragedy, Troilus and Cressida, helmed by the distinguished Tina Packer.
