Join the Boise Phil Master Chorale for “Catching Hope” on Saturday, May 13, a concert of meaningful works, new and old, which conjure hope across the ages. Led by Grant Farmer, the Boise Phil Master Chorale begins with Adolphus Hailstork’s I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes, influenced by spirituals and gospel music, featuring tenor Terrance Chin-Loy. The program continues with Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare, composed in 2021, which takes us through a season of beauty and goodness that has been disrupted by darkness and confusion.
Next is Johannes Brahms’ Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny), often referred to as his “Little Requiem”, written as comfort to the living rather than an act of prayer for the dead, giving us all hope here on Earth. The program closes with Kim André Arnesen’s Even When He is Silent, which elaborates on a hopeful text that was found scratched onto a wall by a Jew hiding in Germany, during World War 2. Come support these talented musicians as they work together to create beautiful music that will leave you feeling delighted and uplifted.
Tickets to this performance at NNU’s Brandt Center in Nampa are available on the Boise Phil’s website, boisephil.org. Discounted student tickets are available.
