The Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts announced the installation of a new d&b audiotechnik V-series sound system. The award-winning, highly efficient system includes stereo line-array loud speakers, cardioid sub-woofers and digital amplification. The newest of d&b's product lines, the V-Series delivers crystal clear, detailed audio performance with an extraordinarily smooth and even frequency response over distance. It is a perfect fit for medium to large venues and will complement the Morrison Center's diverse array of program offerings. "We auditioned many of the top brands over the last seven months," said James Patrick, the Center's executive director. "Ultimately, it came down to a combination of factors, including brand reputation, d&b's highly regarded 'European' tonality, artist and promoter friendliness, and competitive pricing. This new line array is a capital investment that will not only benefit our self-presentations, but also make us more marketable with national and local renters for years to come." The new system debuted in Trey McIntyre Project's recent October performance.
The d&b audiotechnik products have an international reputation, having been installed throughout the United States in performing arts centers, theatres, arenas, stadiums and casinos, as well as Europe including Royal Albert Hall and the Edinburgh International Festival. David Jensen, the Center's Sound and Media Engineer coordinated the install. "My goal was to find a system that was sonically on par with, and a compliment to, the Morrison Center's excellent acoustics," he said. "With the d&b V-series, that goal was met."
The equipment was generously underwritten by the Morrison Center Endowment Foundation, Inc. and installed and designed by 3G Productions, Inc. of Las Vegas and Los Angeles. "The Morrison Center install was a challenging and fun project for our team," said Rick Boot, Partner at 3G Productions, Inc. "We worked closely with Dave Jensen and his team on designing a high quality, fully customized sound system that would stand the test of time and meet the needs of the variety of acts that the theatre brings in. These prerequisites are why we collectively decided to install a d&b audiotechnik V system. Being a relationship-focused company, we are excited about the partnership formed with Boise State University and are committed to provide long term support for years to come."
