The Sun Valley Center for the Arts and Company of Fools (COF) will present a two-day improv acting class, Monday, July 14-Tuesday, July 15, 1-3 pm. The Creative Jump In, "Hot Fun in the Summertime Improv Jam with Andrew Alburger," will be held at the Meriwether Building in Hailey.
Described as a "summer improvisation smorgasbord," this exciting class will include games, stories, scenes, characters, freezes, emotions, everything from a to z, including the game A to Z. "I guarantee that you walk away from this class smiling!" said Denise Simone, Core Company Artist.
Improv instructor Alburger has worked as both an actor and teacher with COF since 2001. He has performed and taught improv to all age groups for over 27 years, starting in New York City and continuing here in the valley with COF. Local students have enjoyed Alburger's classes at the Academy program at Wood River High School and with St. Thomas Playhouse's Company B.
"Over the years Andrew has gained a devoted following for his improv classes," said Simone, "He teaches in a way that makes you want to jump-in and have fun." Alburger's classes, she added, are a longtime COF favorite. "We have been offering Andrew's classes for years because people literally can't get enough."
Tuition for Hot Fun in the Summertime Improv Jam is $50 for Center members and $65 for nonmembers. For more information and to register, go to sunvalleycenter.org or call 208.726.9491.
