Betty Buckley IS alive!

On Law and Order. Pretty good so far.

I was JUST listening to "Writing on the Wall."

One good scene playing (gasp) a lawyer.

She may be a tad 'nutty', but can she deliver! The opening of her Carnegie Hall concert a way back was an absolute thrill. Meeting her left me embarressingly tongue-tied.

When I was back in college, friends and I had cheesecake with her at Lindy's. She was drunk as a skunk but it was hilarious. Gee, I hadn't thought about that in YEARS.

I meet her at a party once and found myself tongue tied too!

She is a tiny thing!

I don't care if she's crazy, she's tops in my book.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

I love her too.

I met her once via a mutual friend (well, a friend of mine who had just done a show with her), and she was lovely.

Crazier than a rat in a coffee can, but truly lovely.

That's rather the way I remember her. She loved that we were all theater students, pulled her chair over, plopped herself down and just chatted away like we were all old friends.

Boy were WE the envy of the dept when we got back on campus!!!

(and she picked up the tab, too!)

She was incredibly nice after her concert in Fort Worth in 07.

That said, I have witnessed one of her tirades. And it's *scary*

Betty was just here in San Francisco a few weeks ago putting on a concert. I heard people refuse to work with her and say she is horrible to be around.

"I don't care if she's crazy, she's tops in my book."

She's tops in my book too.

Crazy? I don't think so.

Amanda Plummer? Crazy.

Mary Louise Parker? Crazy.

Cherry Jones? NOT crazy.

Cynthia Nixon? NOT crazy.

Betty Buckley? NOT crazy.

I'm just saying.

I watched her cancel a movement class because someone accidentally mentioned "Carrie the Musical"...resulting in a rant that would make Patti look tame.

That is such BS! Betty always talks about "Carrie The Musical" with affection. In fact, she sings songs from it in her new Broadway By Request show and talks about how fun and exciting the show was....even for such a short run. Stop repeating false gossip and give her a break!

Marnorm-
She didn't always. This was...about 10-12 years ago.

Well, 10 - 12 years ago I'm sure I did and said things I don't even remember now. Let's be positive about people and things in this new age, shall we not? Kindness starts with the individual and spreads throughout the world!

When was I negative about her? I still love her and everything she does. The fact she's crazy is something that is well documented and is part of her charm.

I know she STILL isn't all that fond of CARRIE. I heard she was a disaster to be around during her run in Sunset Blvd too. And the cast of "8 is Enough" couldn't stand her by the end of the run and she was never asked back for the reunion specials.

She was filming "Frantic" during the first reunion and "Another Woman" during the second. If you think about it, Betty is the only one from Eight is Enough that is still working in show biz and is successful. I just love how everyone on these boards "Knows someone who knows someone" or "I heard..." or whatever. I am printing these out and bringing them to Feinstein's so I'll get all the accurate info for you. It is obvious something that is very precious in your lives.
