I have never been so delighted by a TV spot than what MARY POPPINS performed on the CBS parade this morning.
It was inventive, magical, and a great representation of the show. Kudos to the creative team of that promo!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Broadway performances that air during the CBS parade are typically pre-taped in an outdoor area somewhere in the city outside of the parade route.
I don't know where POPPINS did it, but they moved to several different locations, including a sidewalk patio area, garden, and merry-go-round. There was editing so that when Mary Poppins would snap her fingers, Bert would magically appear out of thin air. There was a costume change, some magic tricks with pulling flowers out of a painting, growing flowers, etc.
But effects aside, it was well shot and staged, and the locations were perfect.

I almost missed it. The frikin' football game ran over and they cut the first eight minutes, but luckily the performance was about ten minutes in. Adam Fiorentino is very nice to look at. I enjoy him.
I was out and about on Tanksgiving morning....I've been searching constantly this morning for it...can't seem to be found! If anyone has any links, please share them.

Adam Fiorentino is good looking. I said that when they announced he was the new Bert.
Broadway Shows I've Seen: Hairspray, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors (2003), The Wedding Singer, Spamalot, Riverdance, Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Spring Awakening, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Phantom of the Opera, Sweet Charity (revival), Drowsy Chaperone, The Lion King, Dreamgirls(2010 Tour).
That was so charming...what a clever way to plug in the show's charm! Parade performances can be so awkward, but this certainly defeated that! And Adam and Scarlett look and sound so lovely, it will be a treat to see them! Scarlett was always considered a really interesting and exciting Mary Poppins whilst in London, and Adam seems to be a really lovable and fun Bert. I am so excited that they were cast. Thank you for the link!

That was cute. I think 'Jolly Holiday' might have worked better with the park though.

I saw new Mary and Bert last month and I thought Adam is so "earthy" Bert. I missed Gavin's a bit of magical Bert. I can't wait to see Ashley and Gavin in the tour!
