As I understand it the tours that might be shutdown are the tours that are also being produced by members of the League.

"As I understand it the tours that might be shutdown are the tours that are also being produced by members of the League."

If that's true (and I'm sure it is) then Spelling Bee should also be shutting down, as it is produced by members of the League.

If there is a strike, ALL stagehands will strike. The only time those shows wouldnt have been effected would be if there was a lockout. Stagehands would not cross the pickett lines. It's either all or nothing.

How does one go about getting a refund in the event of a cancelled show? I didn't realize that they were obligated to give you a refund as the tickets are always indicate "NO REFUNDS" all over the place.

Would the stagehands of Off-Broadway shows strike in solidarity? I thought it was just limited to Broadway but now hearing that the tours may be effected as well makes me wonder.

Wow ! I already have tickets for:

August : Osage County - 11/10
The Little Mermaid -11/25
Rock N Roll-12/1- my last show for the year

I am more concern about tomorrow.. its bec. I'm coming from Boston. I usually wake up at around 6:30 am .. I will try to monitor today & tomorrow morning . I just dont wanna arrive tomorrow for nothing- that's an 8-hour trip or I might just not go tommorow and loose my $32.00...but I really wanna see August: Osage County!

I guess.. I will stay tune here all day long.

Edit : Pls keep us updated on anything about the possible strike.. I am depending on the postings here.. Thank you guys re: LOCAL ONE AUTHORIZES STRIKE

I'm going to be really upset if this strike happens. I just moved here and am finally getting the chance to see shows. If it happens, I'm sure there will be shows that I never get a chance to see because they will not reopen. Everyone loses when these things happen.

Tell the League not to shut down Bway just to increase their profit margins.

To contact the League of American Theatres and Producers, you may call 212.764.1122 or e-mail them at league@broadway.org.

League President Charlotte St. Martin's e-mail address is cstmartin@broadway.org.

Director of communications for the League is Alan Cohen at acohen@broadway.org.

If you have hotel reservations, have them call or email the League. The same with your airlines and travel agents.

I know everyone's asking these things, but if someone can just help me out:

I am supposed to see Phantom and Les Mis on Dec. 8, and 9th...what are the chances of being affected by this??

Nobody really knows, unfortunately enough. This strike, if called, can last a few days to a few months. Stay tuned.

The one show I haven't heard anything about is Jersey Boys.

Does anyone know if it would be affected by the strike?

In the event of a strike and subsequent lock out by the Nederlanders, Wicked, Grease, Cyrano, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, The Drowsy Chaperone, Rent, Hairspray and Legally Blonde will join the list of productions to go dark.

Unaffected houses include the Hilton Theatre (Young Frankenstein), the New Amsterdam (Mary Poppins), the Helen Hayes (Xanadu), Circle in the Square (Spelling Bee), as well as Broadway's nonprofit sector, including Lincoln Center, Manhattan Theatre Club and Roundabout productions.

JERSEY BOYS plays the August Wilson, so I would assume that it will be going dark along with the rest.

Limelightmike-

I don't know if that was an answer to me... I saw that as well on the Playbill article and it doesn't mention Jersey Boys specifically. I don't know what the August Wilson Theater falls under.

Thanks

If it's a strike all theatres will go dark. Solidarity guys, it means that everystagehand currently working will strike. THAT means that no matter who the theatre is owned by, the shows will go dark.

Sorry, I was writing while you wrote the second post. :)

Yeah, I guess. I don't know much about the different theaters, but that is what I thought.

Thanks

If the Off-broadway stagehands are under the striking union I don't see why they wouldn't.

The League contract covers houses owned by the Shubert Org., Jujamcyn and it's been stated that the Nederlanders will lock out the Local. Any other house will not be affected. Circle, Roundabout, Biltmore, Disney, and others will not be struck.

Actually, some of the Disney houses are involved. Little Mermaid will be dark in the event of a strike.

Is it safe to say that the strike will not be in effect tonight? I have pre-purchased tickets for tonight and then not until December 4. I usually do TKTS. I'm hoping we would have heard by now if the shows were going to be dark tonight?

I am sorry, if I miss it...

But did someone answer..if any OFF-Broadway shows would be affected?

I ask that bec. if I arrive tomorrow at NYC and there's a STRIKE. I might just see a
OFF-Broadway show? and I am trying to look at the alternatives now.

Thanks

Edit : I am thinking about SPEECH & DEBATE- It wont bec. its Roundabout.. I guess. I all all set ! Thanks Updated On: 11/9/07 at 02:18 PM
