if you are going to audition for an equity principal audition, do you have to be there at the start of the audition? or can you arrive anytime in the call time slot?

If you do not have an appointment and they are taking walk-ins your best bet is to show up early (before they even start) to get your name on the waiting list. Of course Equity actors get priority but if you are not Equity, I would advise calling to see if they are even letting Non-Equity actors audition.
Good Luck, and be prepared to wait.

Well, if it is that important of an audition for you I would try to rearrange my schedule and get there by 9:00 am. If that is not possible just get there when you can and hope for the best!
I assume they are not taking appointments?

It depends. During the summer, when there are fewer people in town, it is less crowded and sometimes you can show up in the afternoon and still get in.

During the prime seasons (fall and spring), if you are not outside AEA at 6:30am waiting for the doors to open, you are probably not going to get a slot. There are people who get there as early as 4:30-5:00 for a 9:30 start.

Of course, you never know for sure. You could show up at 7 and there are 10 people there and you could have slept for another hour. But you could show up at 7 and the line is already around the block.
