Hey-- my best friend (a huge musical theater fan) is getting married tomorrow,I am the maid of honor and am wondering if you have any good marriage/love quotes that you couldsuggest for me to use in my toast? Short and sweet and lovely...thanks!!!
if we're talkin Broadway quotes, how about Married from Cabaret. or The Next 10 Minutes from L5Y (though it might be bad luck to quote that show at a wedding). Sondheim's got a bunch of good marriage quotes, unfortunately most of the best ones are negative.
"The last train out of any station will not be full of nice guys." - Dr. Hunter S. Thompson
"I wash my face, then drink beer, then I weep.
Say a prayer and induce insincere self-abuse,
till I'm fast asleep"- In Trousers
“Hey, Straight People, does this feel good? Don’t you think EVERYONE should be able to get married? Why should we celebrate your 'legal' union when there are millions who cannot do the same? Here is your frigging toaster and I SINCERELY hope your marriage last longer than both of Brittany’s and all six or seven of J.Lo’s. Now give me a cold glass of Crystal! Mozeltov Mo Foze.!”
I've always been a fan of Joanne's line from COMPANY when it comes to being in love. She says to Bobby "You have to want Somebody, not some body." So if it's true that they've chosen one another for who they are and not just for the safety of being with someone, then this is a great quote I think. I'll admit I kind of live by it.
"There is nothing scary about life, if you are not attached to the results." - Conversations With God
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."
Too many to list Check the Fantasticks, Company, . Of course Cabaret for- Married- "for u wake one day look around and say - somebody wonderful married me!
