The Tribune's Chris Jones is reporting Hollis Resnik passed away yesterday of heart failure. A real Chicago legend, Resnik also had lead roles in the national tours of Thoroughly Modern Mille, Les Miz, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Sister Act. A real loss for our community.
Very sad, indeed! I saw her in the national tours of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Sister Act. She was always such a joy to watch on stage.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
I got to work as a PA on a production of Grey Gardens she did in Philadelphia. She was wonderful in it and, though I only got to know her rather loosely, she was smart and funny.
A real Chicago legend. I’ve seen her in dozens of shows since the 80s, most recently in a production of Sunset Boulevard. A huge, sad loss to our theater community.
What a great, intreresting career that she carved out through both Chicago theatre and various tours of high-profile musicals. I can't think of anyone else with that type of career who has never done a major show in NYC.
I just read this on Alexandra Billing‘s Facebook page. I’m in shock. I was just watching her “I’m Still Here” on YouTube last week. Sunset Boulevard was the last show I saw before COVID shut everything down. This is such a devastating and unbelievable loss to Chicago theatre.
Such a shock! She truly was a Chicago legend. The shows listed in the BBW article about her are just a smattering of her extensive career.
She, Paula Scrofano, Mary Ernster, Susie Moniz and Alene Robertson were the actresses I saw most often on Chicago musical theater stages (Drury Lane, Marriott Lincolnshire, and Candlelight).
