Hello all! I have to write a paper about a message board for one of my classes on social media and wanted to see if some of you could help me a bit! I just need one question answered!

-How do you feel about people posting rumors on this message board and do peoples ranks (Swing, Broadway Legend, etc) make rumors that they are posting more legitimate?

Feel free to respond to the thread or PM me! Thank you!

As long as I they post it AS a rumor.. who cares? I dont pay too much attention to the ranks, but a known poster is going to get more credence

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

There are several posters here who seem to have VERY reliable sources. When they decide to post something they’ve heard I usually take notice. One thing to keep in mind - as with any online platform, sometimes people who have just joined suddenly have a major rumor they just have to share with all of us that proves to be 100% BS. They could be just looking to stir the pot or could be low level folks who are kind of in the biz looking to speak something into existence.

Sometimes they very reliable sources are the posters themselves. They may have received the knowledge firsthand or were part of decision making, but to protect privacy or being found out, will say “a friend in the biz told me....”  Sometimes it’s very confidential information that if it gets leaked out and traced back to a specific person, they could receive certain negative consequences.  I’ve been in producer meetings where I’ve had to sign an NDA or was explicitly told not to say anything until an official announcement.
