Previews start tonight. Early reports are appreciated as always A sheet of ice sits in the desert of New Mexico. A mad eco-terrorist plants a bomb in order to save humankind. A beleaguered film crew tries to get in one last shot before losing the light. Continuity is a sly, biting comedy in six takes where storytelling and science collide with both hilarious and devastating consequences. The play asks, How do we keep going when hope can seem as fictional as a Hollywood ending? How do we tell the stories that could shape our future? And, perhaps most importantly, Whats for lunch? This world premiere is by Bess Wohl (Small Mouth Sounds), and helmed by the Tony-nominated director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812
Happy opening!!! Where are all the professional reviews????? I can only find one on Talkin Broadway (verry positive). This and Octet are at the top of my list
Can’t read the review, but the show is fun, but def drags and the ending seems to go on for forever and feels super preachy. It just felt like she didn’t know how to wrap up the show, so the ending drags and drags.
That said, the performances are all terrific with Alex Hurt being a standout as a dimwitted heartthrob.
I loved Rachel C’s direction. There’s lots of overlapping dialogue and some great directorial moments near the end. I wonder how it is going from directing such a big Broadway budget musical to something so small simple.
Also really liked the show! Saw it on Sunday and I think Jesse Green was a bit harsh. The play felt wonderfully written and directed, nailing the issues of global warming and liberal hypocrisy right on the money. I didn't feel that it was preachy, but rather talking about the issues of global warming in a very realistic and significant manner. My only criticism was the pacing of the play whenever the climate expert was onstage. While I loved the character, it really put the play at a stand-still whenever he was on. But I definitely recommend the show, and Alex Hurt shines as the absurd overly-masculine hero of the movie.
