London's Hackney Empire Opens

For the theatre lovers out there, an interesting bit of news from across the pond.

"London's finest surviving Victorian Musical Hall, is to reopen this evening. Since it opened in 1901, the Empire has bounced back from the brink of demolition on a number of occasions and has been variously reincarnated as a bingo hall and a commercial television studio. The Empire reopened as a theatre in 1986 before closing in 2001 for a £15 million refurbishment..."
