I am new here having been given this url by a friend of mine. I am looking for some leads to discounted tickets: websites, services, rewards programs, etc.
Welcome yobeipsa, there are many threads about this very topic. I highly suggest that you do a search before starting a thread - some of the people will have your head for far less. Anyway, a simple google search will get you far. You'll even notice here a section entitled, "special offers". I also recommend TheaterMania and now Telecharge has started a new rewards program, Broadway Boosters. Check them out...
Thank you for the leads. Curious about Broadway Boosters. Is this a chance to win free tickets? Clicked on the link, but there was little information. Anyone know more?
I don't think anyone knows yet. From what I've gathered we'll know more on Wednesday. I think its one of those social media games where points are rewarded with...? Stay tuned and I'm sure there will be more information forthcoming from Telecharge.
I called Telecharge and asked the operator what she knew. Not much. She did say that she had heard of the program and that she thought there was going to be a training, but that my best bet was the website. I guess we'll have to wait for Wednesday.
I did join though. I have very limited funds and I have some friends coming to visit me. I know they'd like to see a Broadway show.
You can also sign up for The New York Times discounts... I think it's called Ticket watch, which mostly duplicates what Playbill has but sometimes has something Playbill doesn't. And also seasonofsavings.com which sometimes has good discounts. As many have mentioned in these threads before, check out the list of rush and SRO policies of each show on broadwayforbrokepeople.com and broadwayspotted.com.
Broadway shows are costly. Sitting upstairs and / or being willing to take a chance on the lottery, rush, standing room, TKTS etc. are some other options. (Do you know what these are?)
I think it took some initiative to call Telecharge about Broadway Boosters. I doubt that they're going to release any additional information until they do so on their site on Wednesday.
Anyway, good luck. Here's to Broadway Boosters having a great rewards program.
Also check tdf.org to see if you meet their criteria to be a member. I don't know where I've been all this time but I just found out about it and wish I had known about it earlier. It's only $30 a year and I found a coupon code via google that knocked off another $10.
TDF is great, and I am a member of that and also Theater Mania Gold Club.
If you have friends visiting from out of town who are interested in a Broadway show, you are not going to have time to collect points to redeem on Broadway Boosters (as I understand how it will work) or Audience Rewards.
First of all, do you and your guests have student IDs? If so, you are eligible to rush shows that require a student ID, and that would be the cheapest way to go. If not, look for general rush.
My favorite thing is to go to (google it) Broadway for Broke People. That's a very good list of every Broadway show and what its rush policy is. Standing room and lottery policies are also spelled out. Those will be the best deals.
Then I go to (google again!) the Rush Report at Broadway Spotted. Select the most recent report and read up on line conditions and your chances of getting tickets to the particular show you're interested in. For example, if you want to rush Pippin, you need to get there very early, bring cash, and each person has to be present on the line. Pippin is one of the harder ones.
