I don't know if the rest of the country experienced this problem, but I live in Atlanta and when Once started performing, the local news came on!!! I was appalled!!!!! Needless to say, I have called CBS and left them a message.

That would be your local channel's fault. Our news waited until it ended.

I live in NY and, obviously, they ran the whole show. I was texting with a friend in Houston and they let it run long there also. Can't believe CBS Atlanta would cut it for what, the 11:00 news?? Shameful.

That's the choice of the local affiliate -- not CBS.

Boston -- we got it till the end. (But I'd be pissed as hell if it got cut off!)

well in NY they didn't get the entire Once performance. It started during the commercial break and was rejoined in progress.

That one would be on CBS or the Tonys themselves

Philadelphia ran it until the end as well with the exception of coming in late on Once. I'd be curious what the geographics of the stations that cut it off versus those that let it run.

I think everyone came back to Once late. (Which sounded awful, so maybe we were blessed -- and I love Once.)

I always know to set my DVR for both the award show AND the news that follows because it always runs over. And yes, we are lucky in NY that they don't cut off the show early..

It only ran about 6 minutes..that's just ridiculous to cut it off. It's not like they can't shorten the news a couple of minutes. Geez.

It was urgent that the local CBS affiliate let us know of the breaking news: "It is raining." Yes, that was the lead story. No worries, later in the broadcast, they let us know that the best musical was won by "Kenny Boots."

And what is the local CBS?

I live in Atlanta too and couldn't believe it happened either! Based on my twitter timeline and posts here, CBS Atlanta seems to be the only stupid station! They never would interrupt a sporting event and should be ashamed they did it to a big awards show. There was only 1 award left, a big one at that. There is just no excuse!

This is CBS Atlanta's pathetic attempt to inform the viewers of the awards they missed so we could hear the weather report.

Have y'all heard of The Horton Footes " The Trip To Beautiful Pippin, Bountiful Pippin " or "Kenny Boots"? Those shows were apparently the big winners of the night.

It's bad enough they cut the show off before it's over, but then they can even report the names of the winners correctly. It's not like this is some tiny city without a theatre community.

I didn't get it in NYC. I'm certain it wasn't the affiliates fault, they were probably given the incorrect go. I noticed they cut to commercial and back again when Rock of Ages was on.

CBS has a history of really shoddy production values. The Grammy's broadcast is notoriously bad and the Tony's is certainly not on the same scale as that.

The whole show was a mess and it's no wonder the ratings will be what they will be. NPH may appeal to a wide demo, but the Lin-Manual "white" rapping appeals to no one. I'm also baffled at the target audience for the national commercials.

It is a really great opportunity for Broadway to be showcased to millions, but it's clear there were many bad decisions made. Even Cinderella, the highlight of the night should have cut that waltz. Time really is money and on television you cannot afford to lose viewers.

I'm not sure how I feel about the Disney walk-around style presenters. The characters were really outside of their vernacular with those terrible intros. That is unfair to everyone involved. In way, it's a clever way to showcase Bway shows, it also helps them avoid the "hey we got Tom Hanks and nobody else here" cheapness of the night.
