Not sure if this hits the "long" ten-minute type threshold, but I like "Lot's Wife"

The Prologue of INTO THE WOODS is 11 minutes and 58 seconds of perfection.

The "Hello Twelve, Hello Thirteen" montage in A Chorus Line. I can't even tell you how much I love that section of the show.

I would consider Now, Later and Soon three different songs.

"Simple" from Anyone Can Whistle is a favorite of mine.

I love "Shall I Tell You What I Think of You?" from The King and I.

I mean, "Soliloquy" isn't ten minutes, but it's about seven and a half, and it's probably my favorite, along with "Someone in a Tree."

Re: I would consider Now, Later and Soon three different songs.

I would too if they ended after Anne's song. But as they then morph into the counterpoint section, it really becomes a moment showing how they do belong together in some way - they are a family, it's just a little muddled at this point

Well, technically, each song stops before the next begins (although the first two having finite endings while Anne's is interrupted by Henrik's cello) and the trio of reprises starts.

It just seems to me that those are a different kind of song(s) than something like the Into the Woods opening.

But no offense meant to anyone; it's just how I see it.

no no, i see what you're saying. that one interpretation could be that the trio is a reprise of the each song, just concurrently.

So you're thinking more along the lines of A Day Off as an extended musical scene?

Wicked1492 With You is not all that long... maybe 3 1/2 minutes.

My vote is for the opening number of Grand Hotel at over ten minutes and Dreamgirls opening act 2 - over 8 minutes!

TOTALLY unpopular but I just have a soft happy place for the Jellicle Ball. The Finale for Der Glockner Von Notre Dame and Carpe Noctem from Dance of the Vampires

Someone mentioned Goodbye, My Love. That's one of the shortest songs in the show.

Anyway, can't believe I forgot to mention A New Argentina. Also LOVE Lot's Wife.

donte, "Soliloquy" is "My Boy Bill."

I think by "Goodbye, My Love", the admirer meant that short bit and the longer "Journey On" sequence that follows.

"Meadowlark" is the first song that came to mind when I read the title of this thread. However, in comparison to some of these other favorites, it seem's like a quick stroll in the park.
