He's one of the most underrated actors working today, has done plenty of theater work in the UK, and frequently sings in films. I'd love to see him do a play or even a musical on Broadway.

(okay I kind of just want to be able to stagedoor the show and meet him haha)

But seriously, anyone else agree? What would be some great roles for him? Updated On: 7/5/09 at 12:33 AM

Just reading your subject line made me smile

I would LOVE to see Timothy Spall on Broadway -- I think he is SO talented, and always enjoy his characters (did you see 'Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman'?)

Another quiet actor I'd love to see is Ray Winstone

Great idea!

I think he is a brilliant and charismatic actor, and could probably do anything he wanted in his remit. But I can't see him doing Broadway in practice.

He was ill a few years ago with the same thing that killed my mother, and although he is now apparently in remission, he is very keen to avoid stress as at least partially blamed for the problem in the first place. He wouldn't want to be away from family.

Not that Oliver needs to be revived anytime soon, but the first role that came to mind for him was Fagin.
