I saw the show Friday and LOVED it .. except two minor details: Alexa and Jerry. Alexa is servicable as Penny .. but her singing voice just doesn't cut it. She's just mildy better than the average high school student. She didn't even sing the higher notes of the score .. she just let the other singers take over while she just mouthed it. It seemed like she was really straining to hold on to the higher notes.

Jerry Mathers always looks lost on stage. When he begins singing, he loses all facial expression and looks like a lost puppy dog wandering around the stage. He can't sing, he can't dance .. and he can barely act. The whole "break character" part of "Timeless to Me" was very awkward, because, while Paul was trying his hardest to be funny (and he is) .. Jerry just stood there and didn't even react. I loved Paul as Edna, but Jerry needs to go. They have NO chemistry at all .. I bet Paul feels like he is trying to act with a brick wall.

I did, however, LOVE Shannon Durig as Tracy. She is beautiful and she has the perfect blend of character voice and impressive singing voice. Ashley was a great Link, although sometimes his voice is slighty too "rock" and not enough "crooner." Tevin was great as Seaweed as well. Darlene brought the house down with "I Know Where I've Been," and Ashley Spencer was a great (and very beautiful) Amber. Inez was amazing. I wanted to hear her sing more!! Her solo during Run and Tell That was nothing short of incredible!

The show is in great shape. They just need to get rid of Jerry .. Alexa is okay, not great ... not even good, but she's okay.
