Does anyone know who is replacing Annaleigh Ashford in Rent?  Jan 11 2012, 06:10:51 AM
She has been with the Off-Broadway company, temporarily. They don't usually make press releases or edit the website for temporary cast members.
Bonnie & Clyde  Nov 20 2011, 06:29:14 PM
The first time I saw the show I wasn't really floored by it. Decided to go again, since I did enjoy myself the first time, and even though it didn't seem like that much had changed, it's charm really started to come through. I loved it, and I'm actually looking forward to going back. The songs are always stuck in my head, especially Dying Ain't So Bad, and When I Drive. Jeremy and Laura produce absolute magic together, but I also developed a great admiration for Melissa and Claybourne in their r

Are they all contracted for 8 shows a week? If so, I would hardly call 6 or 7 shows a week "solid".

Tim is playing Gabe in Next To Normal at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater!
PETER AND THE STARCATCHER to Open on Broadway This Spring  Oct 19 2011, 03:20:30 PM
I feel like this news has gotten very repetitive over the months. Amazing how no matter how many times you hear it, the excitement doesn't go away. I loved the show the few times I saw it downtown, watching it grow, change, and please audience after audience was an awesome experience. I don't see many shows that would really be defined as shows for kids, and even of the ones I have, I've never seen one that is nearly as enjoyable for both them and adults. Such an incredibly well written, and w
Other Desert Cities first preview  Oct 13 2011, 04:44:15 PM
Wow, I was thinking of holding out until winter break for this one, but I might have to get there sooner! I was in The Booth a few weeks ago, and I think it looks wonderful as well.
For Anyone Looking To Rush 8 This Morning.....  Sep 20 2011, 03:44:37 PM
I certainly enjoyed myself, and loved seeing what I had read about the people involved, and the trial come to life in a theatrical way. I certainly hope this isn't the last we'll hear of it. While some added development of characters and relationships would have been a bit more appealing to big theatre fans, I think the performance served its purpose.

Thank you! Sorry about the double post.

Brantley on RENT....  Aug 13 2011, 01:57:25 PM
I'm sorry, I phrased that really poorly. Of course there are other reasons for people to dislike it! To each his own! I've heard a lot of really intelligent, insightful negative thoughts written about this revival, and then I hear "It's nothing like the Broadway production, they don't wear this, they don't have this prop, blah, blah, blah." - I think comparing it to the original production is fine, I do it myself. I think putting it down because it's not the same as it was on Broadway is somethi

Understudy fetishism?  Aug 13 2011, 07:53:17 AM
"But it's not Aaron's responsibility and no one should look at him differently because he didn't miss a single show. In fact, it should be commended."

Exactly. Some *fans* of Catch Me, and last year N2N, and with all shows that this goes on with are too busy complaining that an understudy "deserves" to go on, and all that jazz, that they don't even realize that the understudy hasn't gone on because of the professionalism, dedication, and commitment of the full time actor. That is someth

Understudy fetishism?  Aug 12 2011, 11:16:56 AM
But, with some fans, it's all about "their" show and them. It's not about the theatre community, what's in the contracts, or the professionalism these actors should and do hold. It's about them wanting to see someone that someone else hasn't, so they can say they can. That's not to say that they don't genuinely admire the understudy, or didn't enjoy seeing them, or any of that, but unfortunately, it's the truth. I've heard it out of some people's mouths. Some people.

To add something p

"I also think that some of these fans forget that the average audience member is only going to see the show once. If you've seen the show five times (or 50 times), I can see why you might want to mix it up a bit, but for many audience members, this would not only be the only time they are seeing this particular show, it may be the only Broadway show they see the whole year."

Exactly. I see a lot of shows more than once, and I always enjoy returning to new cast members or understudies, j

Newsies at the Paper Mill Playhouse  Aug 10 2011, 04:05:32 PM
I was bitten by the Broadway bug right around 9/11, when I saw my first shows (Beauty and The Beast and The Lion King). After the attacks, my mom was scared of being in the city, so that's when she subscribed to the Paper Mill for me, and we started seeing tons of local productions. Along with that, she got me tons of musical movies. I watched them all the time growing up. Newsies was one of them. It was one of the movies that made me love musical movies, and encouraged my love for theatre even
Going to NYC this weekend...Stage Door Questions  Aug 9 2011, 08:02:39 PM
New World Stages is on 49th street, very easy to find. Just walk through the plaza after the show and make a right, the doors either say New World Stages Stage Entrance, or Stage Door.
