The Wetumpka Depot Players will present William Gibson's heartfelt Tony Award winning play, The Miracle Worker beginning January 30. The historical drama chronicles the miraculous journey of Alabama native Helen Keller, blind and deaf from infancy, as she discovers communication despite overwhelming obstacles. With the extraordinary assistance of teacher, Annie Sullivan, Helen and her family learn the potential of those faced with exceptionalities during a time when institutionalization was the norm.

After a whirlwind weekend of plays, musicals, workshops and a theatre for youth competition, ACTFEST14 (Alabama's state community theatre festival) is in the books. Adjudicators awarded the Wetumpka Depot Player's production of Jones and Schmidt's classic musical, The Fantasticks, numerous awards including Best in Show.
