Criswell Joins Barrett for Rodgers and Hammerstein Concert, 7/2

By:

Broadway star Brent Barrett will be joined by singer Kim Criswell for a concert of Rodgers and Hammerstein selections as a part of the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra's "Friday Classics" series. The event, taking place Friday, July 2, will be conducted by John Wilson.

Everyone knows the sound of Rodgers and Hammerstein's music, and all your favourite melodies are here - sung by two modern legends of musical theatre. From Climb Ev'ry Mountain, Oh What a Beautiful Morning and You'll Never Walk Alone to Some Enchanted Evening and The Lonely Goather. John Wilson and the CBSO will send audiences home whistling a merry tune.

The concert will include songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein classics including: Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, The Sound of Music, Oklahoma!, State Fair, Flower Drum Song, Pipe Dream, and Cinderella.

On Broadway, Brent Barrett is recently reprised his award-winning role of Billy Flynn in the Tony-winning musical smash Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre. He most recently starred as the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular.

His other Broadway credits include West Side Story (revival), Annie Get Your Gun (opposite Reba McEntire), Grand Hotel and Candide. He received an Olivier Award nomination for his performance in the recent West End revival of Kiss Me, Kate, which was broadcast on PBS and is now available on DVD. As a soloist, Barrett has received national and international acclaim with the Boston Pops and the Berlin Philharmonic, and in concerts at Carnegie Hall and London's Royal Albert and Royal Festival Halls.

Tickets for the event range in price from £9.50 to £39.50. Tickets may be purchased online at www.tickets.thsh.co.uk or by calling the box office at +44 (0)121-780 3333.
