Last piece of Luigi Pirandello, unfinished Giants exerts on the mountain who loves theater a singular and unique fascination. At the end of his life the writer who never asked more questions than the borders between reality and illusion, the action moved to a dilapidated villa, secluded in the mountain kingdom of Cotrone, magician reign the world Scalognati (the Guignards) world where puppets have a soul, torn world the music hall and the circus with his dwarf and his wife to the umbrella. Arrive one day actors, a group led by a countess who wants to play the part of a young poet who died tragically and seeks random paths, as downgraded, with his troupe meaning to his existence. We will only hear the giants, the roar of their steps in the mountains ...

But today these are giants of the mountain? Immediately come to mind all the ills of the modern world, military imperialism in the fanaticism of all stripes, economic and social injustices in the world's bloodiest terrorism: all forms, varying degrees of negation of values art and life. That's probably what gives the play by Pirandello, not a burning issue, but a necessary untimeliness. Inactuality which also makes it suitable to embrace universal feelings that stand by the power of his images, everything based man in his humanity. Staging The Giants of the mountain is not it, in this sense, to act of resistance, theatrically, poetically? Resistance that has brought together in its ranks a meeting courageous, that every night, we still want to believe in the theater with us, though, the spectacle of its destruction ... This is the paradox of the giants of the mountain, and its sublime truth.

Only the dream, the truth of dreams, fantasy, imagination can help us face the brutal reality and give us the means to resist the giant mountains, which are the powers of evil. Just believe, believe as children. No salvation outside poetry, outside art, outside the theater and magic.
