Spoken Stage presents Baltimore/New York, a reading of four short works by authors with connections to both cities: Stephen Dixon, Linda Chambers, and Ted Hendricks. The event focusses the audiences attention on the texts and voices. Todd Pearthree, who is well known for his work with Theater Hopkins, Dundalk Community Theater, and Cockpit in Court, is directing. The readers, Penny Nichols, Eileen Keenan Aubele, Patrick Martyn, and Troy Hopper, are well known in the Baltimore-Washington area The works are selected in order to show how much impact can be achieved using just these elements. In Sex, by Stephen Dixon a man and a woman having dispassionate sex manage to find real satisfaction, while In Memoriam portrays a man comforted by dictating a memorial to his wife to a newspaper editor. Chambers Eating Out depicts a womans sexuality taking over her language. In Prosecco, by Ted Hendricks, who doubles as Spoken Stages Artistic Director, a divorced man undermines his own efforts a reconciliation with his wife. There is no admission charge, but your donations will be gratefully accepted. Audience members must wear masks.
