Their sponsor, the Church of the Good Shepherd, is celebrating its centenary in 2010, and plans to honor the event by reviving this theater group, under the direction of Bill Kamberger ("Baltimore's Best Stage Director," The City Paper).Hobson's Choice is a beloved British comedy that was voted one of the 100 greatest plays of the 20th century in a poll sponsored by The National Theatre of Great Britain. A classic film version, directed by David Lean and starring Charles Laughton, was recently released on DVD by the Criterion Collection. The play remains very popular with British theater groups, and has been successfully revived at Toronto's Shaw Festival and Off-Broadway, but has not had a Baltimore production in several decades.
