Rep Stage Presents THE POE SHOW 10/26-27

By:

Just in time for Halloween, actor and director Tony Tsendeas brings "The Poe Show" to Rep Stage for special performances on October 26 at 2 p.m. and October 27 and 28 at 8 p.m. in Howard Community College's (HCC) Smith Theatre. With only the simplest accoutrements, Tsendeas serves as narrator of Poe's most demented masterworks, including "The Raven," "The Tell-Tale Heart," and "The Black Cat." Tickets are $12 and may be purchased at the Horowitz Center Box Office, online at www.repstage.org, or by calling 443-518-1500. For more information, visit www.tonytsendeas.com/poeshow.

Actor, director and playwright Tony Tsendeas has performed at Action Theatre ("American Buffalo," "The Madman and the Nun," "The Artificial Jungle"), Everyman Theatre ("The Crucible"), the Baltimore Shakespeare Festival ("Hamlet," "The Tempest"), Woolly Mammoth Theater Company ("Rocket to the Moon"), Roundhouse Theatre ("The Cherry Orchard") and Center Stage ("Mary Stuart"). Tsendeas' Rep Stage directorial debut, "Wittenberg," earned him an "Outstanding Director" nomination for the 2010 Helen Hayes Awards.

"Tony is a renowned interpreter of Poe's short stories," says Michael Stebbins, Rep Stage's producing artistic director. "He is also associated with the Poe House in Baltimore and is a walking, talking Poe encyclopedia. He does not just recite Poe's stories; he embodies the stories, which is what makes his performance so unique. He has quickly become a member of the Rep Stage family and will be directing our next offering, 'An Almost Holy Picture.' In addition to his directing talents, he is also a fantastic actor and we are very excited to share his work with audiences from Howard County and beyond. He performed 'The Poe Show' at Belmont Conference Center earlier this year for a limited engagement and scared the pants off of people. As we get deeper into autumn and closer to Halloween, I imagine the stories will take on a creepier quality."
Smith Theatre is located inside the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center (HVPA) on the campus of HCC at 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia, MD, 21044.
