A reception will be held on Friday, September 30 from 6-8pm to benefit the Re-create: Ellicott City Artist Relief Fund, established to assist Ellicott City artists impacted by the devastating flood in July. As you probably know, many artists lost artwork and equipment, severely impacting their ability to create and earn a living.

The evening will serve as the closing reception for our extended and expanded Paint It! Ellicott City 2016 exhibit. It's a great opportunity to reconnect with local artists and arts organizations and to make a final purchase from Paint It! Ellicott City 2016 to support Ellicott City artists in their recovery.

The Arts Council's 20% commission on artwork sales from the exhibit will be donated to the relief fund. Many of the Paint It! artists have generously agreed to donate some or all of their portion of sales as well.

The Arts Council has already sold 50 works of art and its expanded exhibit features many additional paintings you may not have seen - don't miss this chance to purchase local artwork and support our Ellicott City relief efforts.

Local Ellicott City artists and galleries have also been invited to participate by setting up pop-up shops during the reception, providing another opportunity to shop local and support the local businesses affected by the flood.

The Arts Council also welcomes individual contributions to Re-create. A donation box will be available at the reception, and donations can be made online through September 30 by visiting the Support the Artspage of the website (please include Re-create: EC Artist Relief Fund in the purpose section).

Through Re-create, eligible individual artists and nonprofit arts organizations will be able to apply for emergency relief funding to help them recover from financial losses stemming from the flood.
