New Musical THE RESURRECTION Will Release Concept Album
Baltimore band Chuggalug performs the score, with book and lyrics by Simon Bennett.
In development since 2024, the creative team of The Resurrection has announced its forthcoming concept album, a new musical retelling of the events following the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Book by Simon Bennett, with music by Simon Bennett, Russell Greene and PJ Lee, and lyrics by Simon Bennett with additional lyrics by Russell Greene and PJ Lee, The Resurrection traces the forty days after Golgotha. It explores the deeply personal journeys of Mary Magdalene and Mary the Mother of Jesus as shattered faith transforms into unshakeable conviction.
The score fuses contemporary musical theatre with rock, country, and choral elements. Performed by the Baltimore band Chuggalug, with arrangements by PJ Lee and analogue mixing and mastering by Russell Greene, the album will deliver a warm, authentic experience with broad cross-genre appeal.
"We're thrilled to share a taster with the world through the song 'Written in the Stars' and look forward to the musical's evolution into live theatrical productions," said Simon Bennett.
The Original Concept Recording is currently in production in the USA, with casting underway. The album will be released later in 2026 on physical formats and all major streaming platforms.
