PETE THE CAT: A LIVE ROCK MUSICAL Comes to Imagination Stage This Summer
The production is based on the New York Times bestselling children’s book series by Kimberly Dean and James Dean.
Imagination Stage will present PETE THE CAT: A LIVE ROCK MUSICAL from June 17 through July 26, 2026, in the Annette M. and Theodore Lerner Family Theatre. Based on the New York Times bestselling children’s book series by Kimberly Dean and James Dean, the production is recommended for audiences ages 4–10.
The musical follows Pete the Cat as he befriends Jimmy Biddle, a highly organized second grader struggling to complete an art project during the final week of school. Together, the pair set out on a journey that explores creativity, inspiration, and resilience.
Kathryn Chase Bryer, Imagination Stage’s Associate Artistic Director, directs the production. In a statement, Bryer said, “Pete the Cat is a fun, laid-back character that kids today admire because he knows how to ‘go with the flow.' Nothing ruffles his fur—he is resilient and embodies the phrase ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!'”
The cast includes Michael Perrie Jr., Jay Frisby, and Brigid Wallace Harper, alongside Imagination Stage newcomers Kylee Márquez-Downie and Quadry Brown.
The creative team includes Music Director Debbie Jacobson, Choreographer Jennifer J. Hopkins, Scenic Designer Tomya Pryor, Costume Designer Paris Francesca, Lighting Designer Dean Leong, Sound Designer Justin Schmitz, and Projections Designer Luis Garcia. Andrea “Dre” Moore serves as Props and Puppet Designer, with Samantha Leahan as Stage Manager.
