New Director of Development Announced For Chesapeake Shakespeare

By:

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, Maryland's leading professional classics theater, has hired Jenny Leopold as its new Director of Development.

Ms. Leopold is a familiar face in the Howard County community, having served in many capacities, including as president of the Howard County Arts Council. Additionally, Ms. Leopold has been a company member with CSC for the past several years and served as a director, actress, and development committee chair.

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company has fuelled its organizational growth to the point with support from its enthusiastic patrons and board of trustees, corporations like The Allegis Group, foundations like the Columbia Foundation, community organizations like the Howard County Arts Council, and the Howard County and Maryland governments. Ms. Leopold plans to expand the range of and depth of commitment with funders like these. As the Company begins embarking on its strategic plan, it is looking to Jenny Leopold to be a leader in its efforts to implement the goals in that plan.

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company Managing Director Lesley Malin says, "Bringing on a director of development is a big step for the Company as we grow and change. We've had many people encouraging us to move forward and create this position, especially as we are coming off of a record season in terms of attendance and revenue. We think that Jenny, with her strong skills and experience with fundraising and her clear understanding of the Company's history and mission, will be an extraordinary addition to our staff. As we expand our services and programming to the wider community and intensify our conversation with our current audience, Jenny will be crucial in our efforts to create a strong foundation for the organization itself and the work we do."
