Maryland Ensemble Theatre Presents PANCAKE ON PANCAKE, 3/9

By:

Direct from the trenches of Hollywood, Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) today announced a one-night-only performance ofPancake on Pancake, the hilarious story of Sam Pancake's exploits in show business for the past twenty years.

In addition to numerous appearances on critically adored TV shows like Arrested Development and Pushing Daisies, Pancake is also a talented storyteller and has previously appeared in two hugely successful autobiographical one-man shows chronicling his advancement up the entertainment ladder. On March 9th at 9pm at MET (31 W Patrick St., Frederick) Pancake on Pancake will take the audience on a laugh-filled romp through the highs and lows of being a working stiff in (not-always-so) glamorous Hollywood, from Pancake's childhood in rurAl West Virginia to working with the likes of Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney with a crammed suitcase of war stories, anecdotes and gossip (some too juicy to be uttered in LA!) along the way. Dream Come True or Cautionary Tale? See the show and decide for yourself!  Tickets to Pancake on Pancake are only $15 and may be purchased online at marylandensemble.org, by phone at (301) 694-4744 or in person at the MET box office.

Actor and comedian Sam Pancake has been slogging away in the trenches of show business for roughly 20 years and has had guest appearances in many notable TV shows, including The West Wing, NYPD Blue, Will & Grace and Curb Your Enthusiasm. He has also been in popular movies, such as Legally Blonde 2 and Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, and is in the acclaimed web series Pretty as "proud pageant Dad" Michael Champaign. Pancake has also written and performed two autobiographical one-man shows called The Head is Not Reliable: Stories from a High Strung Appalachian Boyhood and Wasted on a Boy: The Highs & Lows of a Hollywood Scamp

Pancake is in Frederick to host MET's 8th annual Retro Prom on March 10th at theWilliam Talley Recreation Center.  Retro Prom is MET's annual fundraiser and includes dancing, a silent auction and appetizers and deserts catered by local restaurants include Bryan Voltaggio's Lunchbox, Canal Bar and Grill and The Greene Turtle.  Pancake came to MC the event through MET Artistic Director, Tad Janes and Assistant Artistic Director Gene Fouche, whom he has known since attending West Virginia University together.

On performing his one-man show in Frederick Sam Pacake said, "In 2010 I came to visit Tad and Gene in Frederick, and he gave me a tour of the facility and I was very impressed. I am also thrilled that so many of our friends and colleagues from our WVU theatre department days are planning on attending! It will be a joy to see them."

For over a decade, Maryland Ensemble Theatre has been producing thought-provoking theatre, fun family entertainment, artist residency programs for public schools, challenging classes and the side-splitting Comedy Pigs.  The MET is an artistic leader in the region and at the forefront of the creation of Frederick's Theater District.
