In the coming weeks, Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is holding auditions for three very different projects, including two World Premiere productions. The first of which will be presented as part of MET's series, MET-X, created to expand the collective horizons of the MET ensemble and its audience. The other World Premiere is a community collaboration between MET, Frederick Community College and Hood College that is looking to cast a large ensemble of actors to occupy FCC's Kussmaul Theater this August. Last but not least the MET's resident improv & sketch group, The Comedy Pigs, is hoping to pick up some new players as they enter their twentieth season. These three very disparate projects cast a large net that will offer performers of all levels of experience a chance to seize the spotlight.

Entering their twentieth season, The Comedy Pigs are easily one of the most established improv and sketch groups in the entire Mid-Atlantic region. The Comedy Pigs made their mark early as the troupe had been together just two years when in 1995 Comedy Central picked up their music video "Wiener Dog"- a parody of The Beatles song "Blackbird". Since then, the Pigs have written hundreds of sketches and songs, played over 500 performances, and have had over 40 people call themselves "Pigs." Auditions for new Pigs will be held at 8pm on May 23 at the Maryland Ensemble Theatre located at 31 W Patrick Street in the historic FSK Hotel in downtown Frederick.

"I am (not) My Mother," will run on the MET stage from July 6 to 22. The production features stories Frederick women tell about their mothers. Playwright Suzanne Beal collected stories from more than 80 women all over Frederick County from the Record Street Home to a group of sixth grade girls for the source material. The show's Director and MET Associate Artistic Director, Gené Fouché will be holding auditions for adult actresses at the MET on Monday, May 14th.

On June 6 and 7 auditions will be held at Frederick Community College's JBK Theatre (7932 Opossumtown Pike) for "Robin Hood: Occupy Sherwood". Another World Premier original work that will run at the JBK from August 10-18 is a community collaboration that MET is participating in as part of its long running series of summer outreach projects. This re-telling of the Robin Hood tale will have text, music and movement and all types are encouraged to audition from age 10 to 60. Director Julie Herber, MET's other Associate Artistic Director, is especially interested in actors with special skills such as juggling, tumbling or playing musical instruments.

Anyone interested in auditioning for any of these upcoming productions should visit marylandensemble.org/auditions for additional details and information on how to schedule an appointment or call the MET at 301-694-4744.

For over a decade, Maryland Ensemble Theatre has been producing thought-provoking theatre, fun family entertainment, artist residency programs for public schools, challenging classes and the side-splitting Comedy Pigs. The MET is an artistic leader in the region and at the forefront of the creation of Frederick's Theater District.
