Howard County Arts Council Arts Scholarship Recipients Announced

The Recipients of Howard County Arts Council's 2010 Arts Scholarship Program were announced at the Arts Council's 13th Annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County.
The following college-bound seniors received Scholarships: Leiland Charles, Dance, Oakland Mills High, Austin Nam, Instrumental Music, Atholton High, Emily Caterine Targonski, Instrumental Music, Mount de Sales Academy , and Alexandra Walko-Bushee, Vocal Music, Centennial High. Scholarship funds are sent directly to the registrar or bursar's office at the University of the recipient's choice. Scholarships must be used for enrollment in an accredited college program for a degree in the arts. Each applicant was reviewed based on the following criteria as demonstrated in work samples and other application materials submitted: artistic merit, demonstrated understanding of artistic discipline, ability of the student to articulate artistic concepts and influences, commitment to a career in the arts and a successful record in an academic setting.These four students demonstrated incredible skill and passion for their disciplines and a true commitment to the arts and an arts education.
