Heritage Players Announce Auditions For Archibald MacLeish's J.B Held 8/17, 8/18
Heritage Players in Catonsville, MD is proud to announce auditions for their 2009 Fall production of Archibald MacLeish's Pulitzer Prize winning play "J.B". Written in 1958, "J.B." is a modern day re-telling of the Book of Job and is set in a circus. J.B., a wealthy banker, feels that his prosperity is a just reward for his faithfulness to God. Satan challenges God that J.B. will curse God if his life is ruined and, with God's permission, J.B. is put to the ultimate test in which that which he holds dear is tragically taken from him. In the end, J.B. refuses to relinquish his faith and creates a new life for himself.
Auditions will be held Monday August 17, 2009 and Tuesday August 18, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rice Auditorium on the grounds of Spring Grove Hospital Center (Catonsville, MD). Callbacks, if needed, will be on Wednesday August 19, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Performance dates will be November 6-7-8- 13-14-15-19-20 & 21, 2009 at the Rice Auditorium. Actors are needed in the 7-16 age range, as well as adults 20+. Sides will be provided. A headshot is appreciated, but not mandatory. J.B. (Male) -A perfect and upright man, successful banker/millionaire with a wife, children and a comfortable life
Jonathan (Male)-10 year old son of J.B.
Mary (Female)-12 years old daughter of J.B.
Nickles (Male/Female)-Old, has-been actor who assumes the role of Satan
Rebecca (Female)-6 year old daughter of J.B.
Ruth (Female)-8 year old daughter of J.B.
Sarah (Female) -J.B.'s wife
Zophar (Male/Female)-One of 3 comforters who come to reassure J.B.
Mr. Zuss (Male/Female)-Old actor who assumes the role of God
