Glass Mind Theatre's BRAINSTORM FESTIVAL Set for June 1-17

By:

Glass Mind Theatre's Brainstorm festival is back, this year with a new twist! Playwrights will be teaming up to tackle 5 brand-new short plays inspired by the Baltimore community. The twist? Each playwright chose a submitted location and were tasked with creating half a play either starting in said location, or ending there. Brainstorm 3: Mind the Gap runs June 1 – June 17, 2012 at Load of Fun Theatre (120 West North Avenue, Baltimore), on Fridays, Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 7pm.

Featuring an infusion of diverse live musicians each night and an element of unique audience interaction, the Brainstorm festival has been a hotbed for up-and-coming writers, performers, and artists in Baltimore.

Brainstorm served as Glass Mind's premiere production and has become a yearly tradition for the company, each year with a different element of audience/supporter interaction. This year's challenge was inspired by the Arrivals & Departures theme andsuggestions for locations ranged from geographical places to...some more peculiar locales. One play begins play in Morocco and travels to Funkytown; another begins at the Ends of the World and heads to Planned Parenthood.

"A new play comes from a simple seed - the idea," says Andrew Peters, Glass Mind's Artistic Director. Peters is also coordinating this year's Festival. "From the beginning, Brainstorm has been about letting our audience plant that seed , and allowing a talented group of artists the opportunity to test, experiment, and take a risk on it until it grows into a fully formed new play."

Tickets can be purchased at http://www.glassmindtheatre.com. They are $12, and $8 for artists, students and seniors.
