Everyman Theatre, Maryland Film Festival Team for Stage-Inspired Screening Series

Everyman Theatre and the Maryland Film Festival (MdFF) have announced "Everyman at the Parkway," a season-long partnership and six-part screening series that will bring influential films to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Parkway in conjunction with Everyman Theatre's 2017/18 season.

Whether artistically, structurally or thematically, each film/play coupling aims to inspire conversation and draw connections between the material exhibited on stage and on screen-and every film will be introduced and accompanied by a post-screening audience discussion, hosted by the Everyman Theatre artist who selected that pairing.

First in the series is David Cronenberg's M. Butterfly, a 1993 film adaptation of the stage play, starring Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons (Reversal of Fortune) and written by David Henry Hwang, based on his Tony Award winning play of the same name. The pairing is inspired by Everyman Theatre's fall production of M. Butterfly, directed by Everyman's Founding Artistic Director Vincent M. Lancisi (in performance September 6 - October 8, 2017).

The screening of M. Butterfly, presented from an original 35mm print, takes place on Tuesday, September 26, 7:00 PM, at the Parkway (5 W. North Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland). Lancisi will personally introduce the film and host the post-screening audience discussion.

Upcoming screenings will also include Ava DuVernay's 2012 independent feature, Middle of Nowhere (presented by Resident Company actor Dawn Ursula as a companion to Everyman's Intimate Apparel), on Tuesday, October 24 at 7:00 PM, and Benoît Jacquot's 2012 French drama, Farewell My Queen (hosted by Resident Set Designer Daniel Ettinger, to pair with Everyman's The Revolutionists), on Tuesday, December 12 at 7:00 PM.

- March 20, 2018, 7:00 PM, hosted by Aubergine Director Vincent M. Lancisi

- May 15, 2018, 7:00 PM, hosted by The Book of Joseph director Noah Himmelstein
