Everyman Theatre announces today that it has become an Associate Member of the National New Play Network.  Based in Washington, DC, the National New Play Network is the country's alliance of nonprofit theatres that champions the development, production and continued life of new plays.  Everyman's new membership demonstrates its commitment to the development of new plays throughout the country.

The National New Play Network is a service organization for nonprofit producing theaters.  The Network is comprised of a relatively small group of Core Members, who pioneer and implement collaborative new play strategies, and a growing group of Associate Members, who disseminate the Network's programs and strategies nationwide, and widen the circle of plays and playwrights the Network supports.

"It is critical that we support and nurture new voices in the theatre," said Everyman Theatre's Founding Artistic Director Vincent Lancisi.  "At this point in our development, we are adding to our programming a commitment to producing the next generation of playwrights."

"We couldn't be happier about Everyman becoming an Associate Member of NNPN," said the Network's Executive Director Jason Loewith.  "Under Vinny and Ian's leadership, Everyman is about to take a giant leap - and we want to be part of that, for the good of the theater, Baltimore's cultural scene, and playwrights everywhere."

Everyman Theatre is a professional Equity theatre company celebrating the actor, with the resident company of artists from the Baltimore/DC area.  Founded in 1990 by Vincent Lancisi, the theatre is dedicated to engaging the audience through a shared experience between actor and audience seeking connection and emotional truth in performance.  Everyman is dedicated to presenting high quality plays that are affordable and accessible to everyone.  The theatre company will be moving to its new location on Fayette Street in January, 2013.

Vincent Lancisi is the Artistic Director of Everyman Theatre; Ian Tresselt is the Managing Director.
