Due to overwhelming response and sold-out performances, Chesapeake Shakespeare Company-in-the-Ruins will be extending the performance run of A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) at Patapsco Female Institute Historic Park in Ellicott City, MD. Performances are at 8:00 pm Thursday-Saturday and 6:00 pm on Sunday-- now through July 31, 2011.

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company's A Midsummer Night's Dream, staged as a dreamy carnival, is wildly popular this summer season with its sell-out audiences. The beloved romantic comedy features a quartet of lovers and a motley group of amateur actors wandering into a magical fairy-filled forest.

Also held over at the PFI, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) has been embraced by its audiences who are reporting they are laughing until they weep. This wacky comedy review written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield unites both expert and novice Shakespeare fans in a hilarious two-hour romp through Shakespeare's greatest hits.

To enhance their performances, Chesapeake Shakespeare Company In-The-Ruins features pre-show entertainment that includes musicians, jugglers, and stage combat demonstrations to engage those that arrive early to enjoy the sights and sounds at the PFI Historic Park. The gates open 90 minutes before show time for picnicking. All children are admitted free and there are Family-Friendly Sundays with interactive activities especially designed for children.

The additional performance weekend will be scheduled as follows:

· Thursday, July 28 at 8 p.m. A Midsummer Night's Dream
· Friday, July 29 at 8 p.m. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)
· Saturday, July 30 at 8 p.m. A Midsummer Night's Dream
· Sunday, July 31 at 6 p.m. A Midsummer Night's Dream

Tickets can be purchased online at www.chesapeakeshakespeare.com or call 410-313-8661.

Mission: The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company creates performances and education programs out of great classic theatre. Classic plays can be awfully good, but only if they speak to their audience and the community in a way that is dynamic, personal, and pleasurable. We do plays that people like, and we perform them in innovative and intimate ways that intensify the connection between audiences and artists. We do this because we want to know what makes Shakespeare so great-and we ask our audience and our community to explore that question alongside us.
